There are many factors to a browsers security. Factors like plugins, anti virus and anti malware protection all contribute to a browsers security than just browser itself. If a popup is blocked, you will see notification either in the lower right corner of the browser as a blue bar or in the address bar on the right as a small window icon with an x.
