QuickBooks Online service update

Service update:

A commercial power failure has disrupted some of our online services. We expect to restore full service to the Intuit websites and online services affected by this morning’s commercial utility power failure between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Pacific time.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are committed to completing this as soon as possible.

We’ll provide real-time updates here as new information becomes available.

Thats what im sayin, hate to keep calling client’s saying im sorry my online system is down and considering the price we are paying.

That’s what I’m saying. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and registered a second company. They tried to charge me MORE than for the first company. AND it took 3 tries to get it setup right because their support kept giving me blatantly incorrect information about their own software. I.e. click on X where X doesn’t even exist. Intuit has gone from the best to near the worst and on a downward trajectory. I’m starting to regret giving them the benefit of the doubt already.

You really need to consider a reliable backup solution. Perhaps an offsite data repository?

  3. Brian - Houston Says:

I thought your datacenter was in San Diego, CA?

SD G&E says no power outages…… so tell me how it is that you have another corporate web blackout in less than 30 days? I’m guessing someone should be dusting off their resume.

This time I happened to be online while it occurred and what I suspect really happened is your database exploded. It became very very slow before it vanished entirely.

We have had this service for four months and this is the third time QB has been down causing our business to come to a standstill. We wanted to try it out and unfortunately although we are pleased with QB we cannot afford to have everything stop while QB is experiencing difficulties.
Actively searching for a new and more reliable solution other than online.

  5. Doug Says:

I would expect the data center used by Intuit to have reliable on-site back-up power and redundant network connections that also have back-up power. It is unacceptable to me that a service of this size and type would not have basic contingency plans like this in place.

  6. Just as an FYI, we’re in the middle of our audit this week. Fortunately, most testing was done on Monday and Tuesday. I’m posting this to add data about why these outages are enormously costly to QBO clients. A free month is a nice gesture, but a drop in the bucket relative to the real cost. Once again, I think an explanation from management (along with an apology) is called for. And it would be nice to know what you are doing to learn from these failures. As you will note, the clients are learning that we should find another solution…

You guys ever heard of UPS (not the guys with the brown trucks – un-interruptable power supplies) and backup generators? Wasn’t a power failure your excuse for the last outage? What kind of commercial data center crashes due to a “commercial utility” power failure. Even my cabin in the mountains is better equipped to deal with such an event with cheap propane generator. Unbelievable!

  8. Joe Says:

This is starting go beyond ridiculous!

The only thing reliable about Quickbooks Online is the frequency of your shut downs and service disruptions!

Either commit to the product and the customers or shut it down!

Maybe federal regulators need to look into this situation!

  10. Cancelled Customer Says:

I just called in and cancelled our service with Intuit, including both Quickbooks Online and our Merchant Account. After the massive June failure, to have it happen again, two months in a row, is simply unacceptable.

  11. Karin Says:

Really down three times in four months? Microsoft Dynamics GP is now available on demand with myGPcloud and looks to be talking to some Intuit customers. I hear they have been hosting for 11 years and have never been down. Maybe QBO customer should think about making a change! Check out mygpcloud.com

  12. Cressa Says:

I was told I was the only one having log in problems . Are you kidding me after 2 1/2 months still having problems. Tax payments late and penalties, This is totally unacceptable. I need to be credited the charges since mid July
